I had pissed off my parents enough that they locked me in my room. Literally. They put a padlock on the door so I couldn't get out. They took out a lot of the stuff in my room, so all I had left was a clock radio, a lamp, my bed, a notebook, a pen, two weeks worth of clothes, and a bouncy ball. If I made too much noise or misbehaved in any way, in this order, I lose the ball, the pen, the notebook, the radio and the lamp. How did this happen? Two years ago, I was 16 and hanging out with friends at the mall. Then, some idiot shoots up the mall. I run away and see a man wounded. I help the man and he credits me for saving his life. However, I did not realize the man happened to be a multi-millionaire. He liked me so much that I have the right to call him by his first name, Steve. And for saving his life, he gave me a college scholarship and offered me a job at his company. I took the scholarship, but my parents didn't want me to have the job. I was angry, because he had promised me a $75,000 a year salary. That would be amazing to have. But my parents still said no, because they didn't want me to be distracted from school. I took the job anyway, and put my salary into a bank account. But yesterday, a day after my 18th birthday, my parents found about my job. My parents, however, are not the forgiving type. They beat me, and beat me horribly. They took all of my electronics and then they locked me in my room, where I am now. They said I'll be out and at my college two weeks before my first day, but technically, this isn't being grounded. This is kidnapping. I could legally walk out and my parents won't be in trouble. So I needed an escape plan, without the mess of cops.Luckily, my next door neighbor, Evan, kept his window open, and I was on the top floor of my house. I could toss a paper airplane through his window and have him help me. So I wrote him a note, which said:Dear Evan,My parents grounded me, and I need to escape. Crazy, right? What an 18th birthday gift. Anyway, I know you got a new phone and you have been trying to figure out what to do with it. I haven't seen any fireworks coming from your house so I know you didn't destroy it in spectacular fashion. I need your help, so I need you to use your drone and send me your phone through my window. Give me a thumbs up from your window if you are willing, or a thumbs down if you aren't willing. Give me a thumbs up and I'll send another paper airplane with more info. I would appreciate it if you help me.Sincerely,DanI folded the letter and flew it perfectly into his window. Five minutes later, he gave me a thumbs up. I began writing another letter.Dear Evan,I owe you one man. Seriously. I need you to deliver the phone at precisely 11:45 PM tonight. DO NOT GO TO MY DOOR. Just do it through the window. And it must be at 11:45, no earlier, no later.Sincerely,DanTiming was very important. I got small meals at 8 AM, 12 PM and 5 PM. My parents go to bed at 9 PM and are asleep by 11. 11:45 was a good time because my parents would not be awake, I have time to email Steve before his 12:15 bedtime, and I had time to get a decent amount of sleep, because if I was asleep at 8, I would be beaten and lose my meal. I couldn't afford to lose my meal, because the meals were so little, and if I missed one I would be extremely hungry. At 11:45, I opened my window, and gave Evan the thumbs up. He flew his drone up, and I took the phone. I also thanked God that he used his silent drone, because I forgot to tell him to use it. I connected the phone to the internet, and began writing an email.Dear Steve,I got grounded for taking the job. Actually, it's no longer grounding, it's now kidnapping. I'm 18 now, I shouldn't be restricted to my room. I need your help to get out. Tomorrow, I need a box with some things, including an iPhone (unopened), a roll of rope, a wallet, a shirt, underwear, pants, socks, shoes and car keys. I need the box, drone delivered, at precisely midnight through the open window on the top floor. The car keys will be for a rental car. I don't care what the rental car is, just get me a car. It could be anything from a Bentley to a Nissan, I don't care. Park the car at the end of the street. You have joint custody of my bank account, so use funds from there. When I get out, I will text you. But if I do not message you in one week, call the police and report my parents. You know the address. I would love it if you help me and I would appreciate it.Thank you,DanI woke up the next day with my breakfast. After breakfast, I checked Evan's phone for a reply, and I got one. Steve replied with a simple "Sounds good. I got you.". I went through the day normally, and then at midnight, the action started. The box was delivered through my window, and I cut it open using the pen. Inside was a box for the phone (with a phone inside, obviously), the rope, a wallet, a blue shirt and black hoodie, underwear, black jeans, blue socks and a black and blue pair of Jordan I shoes. I found the car keys, which was for an Audi that I hoped was parked down the street. I got dressed, and put my ID in my new wallet. I asked for these things because I wanted a clean start. Nothing my parents gave me. I got ready to go, but I needed to leave a note for my parents. I didn't want them thinking I was kidnapped or dead.Dear parents,First of all, stop claiming you were good parents. You weren't. You physically and mentally abused me for 18 years, and concluded the abuse by committing a felony by locking me in my room. It's kidnapping. Don't expect to see me again, and don't be surprised if the police show up at your door coming to arrest you. Don't try to contact me or find me. You may start looking for me, but I won't be looking for you ever again. Don't bother coming to my future wedding or funeral. I meant nothing to you, so you mean nothing to me.See you never,DanI had to leave behind Evan's phone, it wasn't necessary. But I had a better idea. I reset the phone one more time, and left it on a YouTube video stuck playing in a loop. The video playing? A video for the song "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister. I tied the rope to my bed, and began climbing out of the window and onto the roof. I tossed the rest of the rope down, and holding onto the rope, I jumped onto the trash cans, and jumped over the gate. I was free. I walked down the street, and saw the car at the corner. I got in, and started up the car. I had it. I was good to go."Hey Siri. Play Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd." via /r/stories https://ift.tt/2HEdW2s
